Back to School

When I originally bought this desk I had plans to paint the entire thing a really bold color.  This was about 8 months ago! :)  Some of my projects take a little longer than they should.  I pulled it out to paint and decided to keep it just the way it was, it had wonderful patina and a little bit of lovely rust.  I sprayed a clear coat to give it a protectant on top of the rust and then and sprayed the top of the desk with some chalk paint.  My lil guy starts school next week; the big Pre-K.  I can't believe how fast time flies when you have children.

Have your kids ventured off to school?

Antique Radio turned Cabinet

I have had this radio for almost a year.  I finally got sick of it sitting in my garage so I put it on Craigslist to get rid of it.  GASP!  Don't worry I called my husband and said I think I am going to keep it and I continued on to tell him I would do something with it this week.
I am absolutely so happy I took the ad down and refinished it. We gutted the inside and cut two boards for shelving and then added the bead board to the back.  I took it to the Sweet William Market and it didn't sell.  I wasn't bummed at all because I am keeping it! :)  I am using it in my bedroom for my night stand. I love how unique it is.

What do you think about the new cabinet?
Did you have a great weekend?

A few more goodies

I know I showed you some feed sacks that we just got, but guess what..... WE GOT MORE!  These bags are amazing and the colors are incredible.  Can't wait to get them in the mail and make some pillows and maybe some handbags.

I also scored this trunk for $25 at the flea market.  I think I am going to paint it white or gray and use it for props for my developing photography business.

Did you all have a wonderful weekend?  I did, but they are just to short.  :(

A Birthday treasure

Last Sunday was my birthday and I wanted to check out the flea market, I hadn't been in years.  So my grandma and I went because my hubby had to stay home because our hot water went out, oh yea and so did our A/C.  I believe it was 95 that day, happy birthday to me!  Anywho, we found some goodies.  This is one of them.  I am actually keeping this for me and it is going in our extra bedroom. It is a wonderful chalky blue color.  I am going to paint the drawers with a couple layers of paint and then sand it down to show some of the gorgeous wood.  We have the most awful furniture in that room can't wait to see it go!  :)

Oh yea and look at our best treasure yet! We rescued her from our local shelter.  Her name is Lola.
Isn't she precious???  We just love her.
Hope you have a fabulous weekend.

Feed Sacks

Look what we just bought!  They haven't arrived yet so this is the picture from the ad.  Our feed sack pillows sold out at the last show and we could have sold a ton more.  So we needed to find more and bump up our inventory.  I love the look of these,  I think they tell such a story of the past.  The spots and discolorations remind me of bumps and bruises we all encounter in our lives!
This one is my favorite!  I think a pillow made with this sack is calling my name.
Can't wait to show you all the pillows when they are done!
Happy Thursday! :)
More treasures tomorrow.

Shabby Chic Green Buffet

So last week I was scouring my go to, Craigslist, and found this beauty.  I loved the color and the shape!  I know the picture is kind of blurry but I took it off of the ad, so i apologize.

Mr Wonderful went and picked it up for me on his way to work cause that is the type of guy I married!  :)  He is amazing and should teach classes!  Anyways the only thing we had to do was fix a couple of dents and we took the mirrors off the doors and put in some chicken wire. Look at the drop down drawer!  Amazing piece I tell ya, I absolutely loved it!  It was one of the hardest pieces to sell. :( But the couple who took it really liked the piece so it went to a good home!

Happy Wednesday!  Stay tuned for my latest find tomorrow!

Lil Miss Houston

Remember this dresser? When I saw it I knew it was crying for help!  It wanted it to be beautiful and happy again.  I love wood but this to me was so dark and gloomy and not in a good way.  Don't get me wrong some days I love a gloomy day! :)  I reused the same knobs and painted them heirloom white.  I am so happy that this dresser went to a precious little girl whose family just moved to Colorado from Texas.  I just love how it turned out.  I wish I would have gotten a better picture before it was wisped away and taken to its new home but that is usually how it goes with me.  My goal for August, to start taking my time and getting some real amazing pictures of my pieces.

What do you all think?  I hope Tuesday treated you well.  Stay tuned to see my awesome buffet.
