French Planter

A while back I made a few planters for our show & shop .  I ended up keeping one for myself to put on my porch.  I found my graphic over at The Graphics Fairy in reverse format.  I printed it out, cut as close to graphic as possible and modge podged it onto the pot.  I let it dry overnight and then took a wet sponge to it and rubbed of the paper.  I was sceptical, but it worked.
Last weekend when I was in planting mode I remembered I had this one for my porch.  I like it next to my old rusty chair! The rusty chair I bought at a garage sale from a lady who looked at me like I was crazy. Hey what can I say I like a little bit of rust!  :)

I also want to say thank you to Mish Mashed Mama. She named Willow Creek as one of her blogs she enjoys reading most. I was taken by surprise. I was skimming her different posts and there we were.  I clicked on it and it was us!!! I was so excited. So thank you to her. Go and visit her! :)

Burlap Tie Wreath

Today was an absolute gorgeous day outside!  Our little boy learned about Earth Day at preschool and insisted we plant trees.  However, we planted trees last year so flowers had to work!  So we planted a lot of flowers and cleaned up the backyard, including our patio. :) I worked so hard that I am sunburned and can still see the dirt under my fingernails! After we were finished with "work" I decided to sit outside and finally do a burlap tie wreath for me! I made one for the last show and had to end up making more for additional orders.
I used a burlap coffee sack to make this one. I pulled on one of the burlap fibers to get a nice straight line and did that over and over and over.  I then cut them into smaller strips and tied them to a wire wreath. The last ones I made sure didn't seem like it took as long to make as this one did.  It honestly took, FOREVER!
For everyone who is a new reader I have a slight obsession with burlap.  :)  Just look at that texture, it is gorgeous!!!!  Isn't it???

I do need your opinion, should I spray the S a different color?

Today I was so thankful for having my sunshine and family.  We love being outside and we were so grateful the weather finally cooperated and allowed us to get things done.  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and I hope you planted a little something for Earth Day!

Lead Glass Window

Years ago my in-laws bought an old Victorian home and have started replacing a few things here and there.  They have tried to keep much of the originality but have replaced a few things due to being more energy cautious.  Their house is absolutely beautiful and enormous!  I sweat the bedroom where we stay when we visit is the size of my master bedroom + my little boys room.  Anyways, back to the post.  They recently replaced their upstairs windows and asked if I wanted them.  If I hadn't said yes they would have gone straight to the dump!  :(  But why wouldn't I have said yes? I would never!
My mother-in-law is so hard to shop for.  So we decided to gift back a window but we added a few glass knobs to it!  We wanted to give her something original for her to use in her home and she loved it.  We did give her other things besides her window she gave us!  :)  We ended up keeping one four ourselves and added a few mustard glass knobs and made it into a coat hanger.  We left all the windows in the original condition, I like the weather on them.
I love to decorate with old windows.  Everyday on my way upstairs, I think to myself I wonder who use to peak out or in to this window!

White Cabinet, TAKE 2

This cabinet was stained in a honey oak.  I am a huge fan of honey just not honey oak!  My husband sanded it down and then I painted it white.  It went to one show with me and has been in the shop for about a month.  Since it wasn't selling just painted white, I figured I needed to make it a little bit more unique.

I remembered that I had bought scrapbook paper with antique catalog advertisements.  I actually had to use two pieces of 12x12 paper.  I placed the two pieces on the door and creased it along the sides and just ran my scissors across it and it gave me a pretty clean line. I then used a thin coat of modge podge on the door and then did another coat on top of the paper. I also gave it a clear coat by spray paint for a just in case!
I like how it turned out.  I think it definitely adds some character to it.
What do you think?

Refinished Dress Form

I have been on the hunt for a dress form for a very long time.  I didn't want to spend a fortune on it because I was just wanting it for my office and then to occasionally use at shows.  When I saw it I figured it would be at least $75 or more.  It had no price tag on it so they called the vendor who had that space and she said $30.  SOLD!!!!!!!!

It had very dingy red knit fabric on it and so I tore it all off and let me tell ya I had to shower after it was so dirty.  I ripped up manila drawing paper into long strips and to give it some texture and then modge podged it on there.  I let it dry over night and then took a distressing ink pad to it, to give it some age and another coat of modge podge. It didn't come with a stand so I created my own.  I used an old white spindle and a table top for the base.

I love how it turned out!  I think it is kind of unique, not often do you see a dress form on a spindle on a table top!  It is one of those items everyone wants to buy and if you had 5 of them they would be gone in a snap.

Light Gray Wardrobe Cabinet

Over a year ago I found a cabinet similar to this and I had everything set up to pick it up and her husband sold it to someone else.  So when I saw this one, nothing was getting in my way of this one.  It was stained very dark.  I wanted to lighten it up and bring life to it.  I thought about painting it white but I wanted something a little different for the shop.  So i mixed up a light gray.  The pictures were taken at the shop that doesn't provide the best light.  I have no clue what I was thinking when I didn't take a picture when I had it displayed in my house for the past week.  Lesson learned, take pictures at home!

These pictures don't do this piece justice at all.  :(
