Lamps & Lace Oh My

Lace has started to become a big go to, for us lately.  It is just so beautiful to create with!  It just adds such class and beauty to absolutely anything!  This shade we added ruffles of sheer lace, a trim of lace and a burlap rosette.  We put this one up on on a post that we use to sell them off and I went to grab my camera and they were literally snatching it up before the market had even started!  It is always nice to have sales before the market starts.
A few weeks ago my grandma went to help her sister clean my great-grandma's house to get ready for our family reunion.  My great-grandma and grandpa use to go to auctions all the time.  They have collected anything and everything for a very long time.  She found numerous lace table cloths that were on their last life so we just added them to lamp shades!  We took blah old brass and painted them with some ASCP in old white, coco, country gray and french linen.
We found this lamp at the thrift store.  It was painted black but I wanted something more neutral and chic looking.  The shade we have had for a while and it was perfect fit for this one.  Sometimes it is ok to have a stockpile of things for the future!  :)

All of our shades and lights sold in a snap.  So we are busy bees working on more.

Chic Two-Toned Wardrobe

A while back I was scouring CL at like 9 pm and found a really neat wardrobe!  I immediately called and then thought oh my gosh, I called someone after 8 pm for a piece of furniture.  I called myself insane, crazy and rude!  She answered and was very nice, she posted it late so she said not to feel bad.  It was only about 5 miles away, so my husband went to pick it up the next day.  The piece was in ok condition but the mirror was horrid! Rather than replace the mirror I added chicken wire for jewelry, pictures or whatever!
I wanted to do something a little different but wanted it to still have a very chic but neutral look.  So I mixed a little bit of brown into my antique white and got the drawers & door color. I also added the scrolls on the top of the door.  She has went with us to a few shows and still hasn't found a new home, but I hope she will very soon!

Tomorrow I will be posting about some really cute lamps we just refinished and sold.

Hope ya all are doing great.  We are busy over here at Willow Creek but next week things will slow down a bit!

Old Glory Burlap Pillows

The other night I was on Pinterest and found some cute pillows.  I showed my grandma and this is what she came up with.  She cut out some burlap and then painted the stars and stripes.  Aren't they adorable?
Who doesn't love some red, white and blue!  I know I do! I think they would be very cute in a little boys bedroom.  I have a couple on my front porch bench.
She always amazes me on how talented she is and how quickly she can whip things out.  I hope one day to be as good, as she is at everything she does.  These old glory pillows will be available at our Etsy shop tonight!
Happy 4th of July!

Old White Rounded Dresser

A couple months ago I went to pick up a few things from a guy off of Craigslist.  We got to talking to him and found that he went to auctions almost every weekend.  He offered to pick for us when he found good deals he knew we could refinish and sell.  He is an awesome guy who we trust and he doesn't get mad if we don't take an item he has.  The other day we filled up the truck with picks from him.  Here is one of the dressers he had.  We couldn't pass this cute dresser up.
We loved the rounded drawers and the fact it was in great shape! Isn't it neat how rounded the drawers are?
We had so many colored pieces for the show that we really needeing something neutral.  We always try to have a piece for everyone who loves our booth.  We ended up painting her in Annie Sloan Old White and added new bronze knobs.
I love how chalk paint distresses!  I must say I was skeptical. We thought we can distress a piece and give it the "old world" look with normal paint.  We can come close with other paints but Annie Sloan hits the nail on the head, for sure!
I apologize for the front yard shots.  I was getting them loaded into the truck for the show and didn't have time to stage them.  14 more days and I will be working for Willow Creek full-time and will have a lot more time to stage, paint, decorate, blog and sell a lot more.
What do you have planned for the 4th?

We are in a big show this weekend so we will be working hard to get ready but of course we will take time to be with our family and be thankful for our independence!

Headboard Bench

We had 10 minutes to get to my sons t-ball game when we saw a garage sale sign.  Grandma and I looked at each other and of course headed to the sale.  This guy was selling this bench that he told me was his "bachelor" coffee table.  I bought it and threw it in our garage for a later date.  Well that later came but it just needed something else.  It was way to boring!
I remembered I had this headboard that I could add to it.  Hmm..  I love when ideas like this pop into my head. My husband looked at me and said alright let me know how you want it.  What a guy!
He ended up sawing off part of the leg so it could sit right on top for added support and then I got to work.  I used Annie Sloan Old White and Duck Egg.  This was the third project using chalk paint on and let me say I am starting to become a huge fan! I really like how it distresses and how smooth it is when you sand it.  Only thing I don't like is how dirty it is but then again so is sanding.
I love the details on the headboard.  I think it would be great for a play room, reading room or even outside with big cushions on it.  Wish we had a bigger house for something like this. At least when that does happewe will remember how much we loved this piece and can make us one!
Doesn't it just look so inviting?  Don't you love my front yard backdrop? :)

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
We had a show yesterday and I am wiped out.

Oh and if you were wondering we were about 10 minutes late to the game.
