Headboard Bench

We had 10 minutes to get to my sons t-ball game when we saw a garage sale sign.  Grandma and I looked at each other and of course headed to the sale.  This guy was selling this bench that he told me was his "bachelor" coffee table.  I bought it and threw it in our garage for a later date.  Well that later came but it just needed something else.  It was way to boring!
I remembered I had this headboard that I could add to it.  Hmm..  I love when ideas like this pop into my head. My husband looked at me and said alright let me know how you want it.  What a guy!
He ended up sawing off part of the leg so it could sit right on top for added support and then I got to work.  I used Annie Sloan Old White and Duck Egg.  This was the third project using chalk paint on and let me say I am starting to become a huge fan! I really like how it distresses and how smooth it is when you sand it.  Only thing I don't like is how dirty it is but then again so is sanding.
I love the details on the headboard.  I think it would be great for a play room, reading room or even outside with big cushions on it.  Wish we had a bigger house for something like this. At least when that does happewe will remember how much we loved this piece and can make us one!
Doesn't it just look so inviting?  Don't you love my front yard backdrop? :)

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
We had a show yesterday and I am wiped out.

Oh and if you were wondering we were about 10 minutes late to the game.

  3. Love it, Ericka. Very creative putting the two pieces together. I have to try the ASCP - my homemade version isn't distressing quite the way I want.
